The character of Martina, in the Traitors trilogy was inspired by my admiration for strong, independent women. Women who take on a challenge and run with it relentlessly and passionately, no matter what until they conquer. Women who don’t balk at danger, intimidation or threats but continue to show courage, strong leadership and a higher level of moral caliber.
Fighting Citaraph had never been her intention. The situation, call it fate, landed upon her knees and she had to act. She could have disregarded it, and gone on to lead her company, Althonat Global, but there was one aspect she couldn’t ignore, her legacy, her late father’s mysterious connection with the evil cabal.
She took on the mantle of a saviour and paradoxically the dispute expanded her insight, leering about her inner self that whatever she could suffer would be the best experience that ever happened to her, if at all she survived the convoluted ordeal.
Martina positioned herself as a shield for humanity, blown and tossed by the wind like a wave of the sea. In the murky darkness, she had no sense of orientation but only her instinct and a heavy dose of courage and confidence. Times waivered, and the stormy pharmaceutical war escalated but her remarkable resilience persisted unabated. She navigated the gloomy seas searching for a route, a trick to strike Citaraph where it hurt most.
The ever-changing and evolving nature of the pharma conflict became tedious and arduous at a delicate point when she was expecting her second child. Martina could not be persuaded to wind down, take time out and appreciate her complex situation. Instead, she pressed ahead going full steam after Citaraph with everything she had.
There was no time for reflection, fear or doubt but only faith for a winner mind-set. She determined to break Citaraph’s absolute power that dominated and controlled humanity with a poisonous drug they passed off as a wonder drug.
Martina’s message resonates worldwide, loud and clear that if we don’t pay attention to our changing world, we will lose our freedom. We will be nothing but tokens to be controlled and manipulate by corporations and the political elite.
Times are too grave, challenges too urgent, stakes too high to permit the usual debate. It only adds anger to an already battered people. People are part of humanity and deserve to be treated as such.
Martina is not here to curse the darkness but to light a candle that can guide us through the darkness to a safe and sane future.
In love and light.
